We invite our Triad community to join us in honoring the memory of Jeremy Brown. As a student at Triad High School, Jeremy brought a consistent, infectious joy and a positive, fun attitude to everyone fortunate enough to know him. Though he was tragically lost defending our country, his vibrant spirit and dedication leave a lasting legacy. Please take a moment to watch this tribute celebrating a life that brought so much light to our halls.

More Debate Pictures!! What an amazing trip!!

Triad Debate made its first-ever appearance at the National Speech & Debate Tournament in Richmond, Virginia this year. This tournament brings together the best competitors from across the United States and around the world. Each NSDA district is permitted to send only two entries per event, making qualification itself a significant accomplishment. Representing both Triad High School and the Greater Illinois District, students Connor Pearce, Morgan Barnett, and Daniel Winfield competed as a World Schools Debate team against nearly 200 teams from across the nation and internationally.
The team showed up and showed out, becoming the first team from Southern Illinois to ever advance to the elimination rounds of World Schools Debate at the National Tournament. After preliminary competition, they earned the 27th seed and advanced all the way to triple octafinals. Their success did not stop there. Individually, Morgan Barnett was recognized as the 24th-ranked speaker in the event, while Daniel Winfield earned the 45th-ranked speaker position. This accomplishment is even more impressive when considering that World Schools Debate teams consist of three to five students, meaning Morgan and Daniel were recognized as two of the top 50 speakers out of more than 600 competitors.
These accomplishments represent a historic milestone for both Triad Debate and the Greater Illinois District. We are incredibly proud of Connor, Morgan, and Daniel for their hard work, dedication, and outstanding representation of our school and community on the national stage.
